History: The Hilldale Athletic Club, formed by Ed Bolden, was based in Darby, just outside Philadelphia. The teams won the first ECL pennant in 1923 and went on to face the Kansas City Monarchs in the first Black World Series the following year. After losing that contest to the Monarchs, both teams repeated their respective pennant titles in 1925, but this time Hilldale prevailed five games to one. We have decorated this cap with the sleeve patch from the Daisies’ jersey that season.
