League: Mexican League
History: Founded in Monterrey in 1939 by Mexican brewery Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, the team was named after one of the brands produced by the brewery. The team, also nicknamed the “Gray Ghosts” (Fantasmas Grises), continues to play today, but the Carta Blanca name only stuck until 1941. In ’42 they became the Industriales and won their first of 10 total league titles in ‘43, then after winning their second title in ’47 they changed their name again in ’48 to the Sultanes, the name they still use today.
